Meditation in the time of the pandemic

Instead of researching a daily death rate

I wish I could just meditate

I wish I could just sit there

And focus on my breath

But every day a new challenge

Of what to make for diner

And where to take a walk

Because I can’t slow down

And can’t properly talk

I’m in a rush despite just being only here

I’m worrier that if I go out

There are people everywhere

It;s not possible to stay human

And keep a distance from each other

It’s difficult to stay close

And respect your mother

Computer screen is our gateway

To the ones we love

Despite that

High above

Our sky is clearer

And pollution ceased

As there are no planes

I must wait a minute and focus on my breath once more

The leaves on trees are still the same

The grass is green as it has always been
